5 affirmations to end the year

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog! It’s finally December, the most beautiful time of the year and although it may not be beautiful for the ones of us in Haïti, I am still extremely thankful. Today is my 25th birthday and I thought I would give you guys this article as a gift, that way all of my favorite readers could celebrate with me. So, let’s end the year on a beautiful note.

I’ve been seeing a post all over social media lately which said “I am calling God to tell Him to remove me from the list of his strongest warriors for next year”. There couldn’t have been a more accurate description of how I am feeling right now. 2022 has been by far one of the most painful years. The things I have experienced this year, I would not wish on my worst enemy. I have went through some of the most hurtful situations and I am still here today, alive and well. I know I am not the only one feeling like this. A lot of people have also expressed how this year has been challenging to them. One thing I learned is that I am stronger than I ever gave myself credit for. Which is why, before the year ends, I want to remind each and every single one of you 5 important things.

These are the 5 affirmations I found on the web that I think you should repeat to yourself everyday, as we are closing this awful chapter :

1. Your problems do not define you. This is one of my favorite affirmations, and it is one I repeat often. My problems, my pain and my sadness do not define me. With time, I have learned to accept that challenges are a crucial part of life, they help shape us into the person we are today. Don’t let your troubles become your identity. Dwelling in your problems and carrying their burden can only bring you unhealthy and negative emotions. Learn to be at peace with yourself and let go, free yourself. You are strong and you can do it!

2. It’s okay to want something new, something different, something better. You should always put yourself first, your happiness should be above all else. If you feel like you are tired of the place you are in life, it’s okay to want to move on. “It’s important to know when to leave”. If you feel like you are no longer happy or you just want a new challenge, do it now that you still have time. Don’t feel bad for wanting something different, a breath of fresh air.

3. I will not stress about things I have no control over. A few days ago, I was not feeling well at work. The pain was more psychological than physical. I felt super drained emotionally, and I needed to cry to let go of the hurt and pain I was feeling. One of my friends who was with me said ” It’s okay not to be okay, it’s okay to cry. Let it all out”. As humans, we hate the unknown, we always want to be in control of everything but we often forget that some things are out of our hands. I understand that we do not choose when to be stressed nor can we control it, but we can accept what we can’t change. Have you heard about the ” Serenity Prayer”? It goes like this : “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” Those words are very powerful, and when you feel weak, read/recite them.

4. All the love I give out will be returned to me eventually. As I previously said in one of my articles, do not let this cruel world harden your heart. No matter what happens, no matter how many times you’ve been betrayed and hurt by people you thought cared about you, always leave a piece of love in your heart for others. Some heartbreaks will crush you and make you hate the world around you, but it is all part of life. Not everyone will appreciate you or what you have to offer but kindness is like a boomerang. One day all the love you have been given freely to people who did not deserve it will return to you. So make sure you are ready to embrace it.

5. Let yourself be happy when there’s at least one thing to be happy about. Do you remember my article about Gratitude? I will add the link below so you can check it out. As long as there is still a heartbeat, there is something to be grateful for, and when life wants to beat you down and drown you in a pool of sorrows, always find at least one good reason to be happy. Let your mind wander for a while and enjoy the moment.

I hope that after reading those affirmations you feel better and ready to let go of everything that has been holding you back. If you know someone that has been through a lot this year, please share this article with them as a reminder that they are amazing and that they deserve every good thing coming their way this upcoming New Year.

That’s all I have for today. I will never be thankful enough for all the love and support that I receive from you guys. I appreciate each and every single one of your comments and messages. Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year. Until we meet again, stay safe and be blessed… always!!
