Peace of mind, road to happiness

Hello my beautiful people and welcome back to my little corner🌻🌼. It’s week 3 of quarantine and I hope everyone is feeling good despite the situation. Don’t forget to wash your hands and stay home. As suggested by a friend, today we’re going to talk about “peace of mind” more precisely about how a correct state of mind can help you grow as a person. I hope that once again you guys will love this article and share it to your friends.

Before we get into it, let’s find a definition for “peace of mind”. Based on various definitions that I have gathered, I can say that a peace of mind is a feeling of calmness. It’s also a feeling of being safe and protected. But most importantly a peace of mind is when you’re feeling stress free and free of worries.

For years I have been fighting with myself. I was never genuinely happy. During the day I’d be laughing with friends and family, and at night I’d drown myself in my tears. I was always so anxious, sad and worried. Was it depression? I can’t confirm that but I’ve finally came to the conclusion that I was not happy with myself mostly because I was worrying too much. It was a rough period of my life and I am happy that I was able to overcome it. Finding a peace of mind is easy but we don’t really know how to do so. Here are few things I’d recommend.

1. Learn to accept things as they are. One way to find a peace of mind is to accept the fact that there are things that we can control and others that we can’t. If something doesn’t depend on us what’s the point of worrying? Easier said than done I know but once you start to accept that, you’ll be at peace with yourself.

2. Practice Self love. Loving ourselves should be the number one rule in life. When you love yourself you’re automatically at peace with yourself. Yes you will be worried about things but at the end of the day you know who you are and you know your strength; you can overcome the situation that’s been troubling you!! If you don’t know how to practice self love, I have great news for you. I have an article about this. Check the link below👇🏾

3. Find humor in everything. Anybody who knows me will tell you this : I love to laugh. I laugh at everything and it’s one thing that gets me through any types of situations. The world looks totally different when we see the funny side of things. There’s this 92 years old woman I know. Her name is Denise and I’ve known her since I was a baby. She goes to my church. She’s 92 and slaying. She looks young and people are always baffled when she says her age. Two months ago I saw her and asked her what’s the secret of looking young while being 92. She looked at me and said “There’s no secret really; just laugh a lot and love life “.

Don’t be too serious about life; it’s just a play” .- Sadhguru

4. Live in the moment. By living in the moment I mean being aware of the past, letting it go and not worry about the future. Yes we’ve made mistakes in the past. It cannot be undone now. Yes the future is uncertain but what does matter is the present. What are we doing to make the present an enjoyable experience? Live this moment like it was our last few minutes on earth.

5. Take time for yourself. “Me time” is really important. You never fully know yourself just like you never fully know someone. That’s why it’s important to take time to learn about yourself. You’d be surprised to discover everything you have to offer. Treat yourself, find your happiness and your mind will be at peace.

6. Be kind to other people. I once saw a quote that said “Be kind to everyone you meet; you don’t know what they’re going through“. I’m naturally a really nice person. Earlier this week someone told me that I’m way too nice and it’s completely unbelievable. Not to brag but I get that a lot😋. I love helping people and somehow it brings me a peace of mind and a genuine happiness. The Bible says in Proverbs 11:17, “A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.” So try it; unless you’re a misanthrope then I don’t know what to tell you really🤣.

7. Have control over your thoughts. If you want to be at peace with yourself, you have to be able to control how you think and how it affects you. Stop thinking about things that destroy your peace and happiness. Think of things that make you happy. Stop letting your thoughts take control over your life.

8. Listen to your heart. Follow your heart. Although our minds usually lead us to overthinking and sadness, our hearts on the other side is always on the search for happiness. Most of the times we get our hearts broken because we don’t listen to it. We make decisions with our head while our heart is saying another thing. Your heart wants you to be happy so it can stay healthy. If your heart says “call someone you love and tell them about your feelings”, do so! The worse thing that could happen is rejection but before you get an answer, you’ll be at peace and even after. At least you’ll know that you’ve tried and that alone should bring you peace.

At the end of the day, I think that if you want to overcome a specific type of situation in your life, you need to have a peace of mind. Use that moment of peace to grow as a person. To become a better “you”. It’s important for you to be at peace in order to achieve your goals. A peace of mind will help you concentrate more and be patient. Patience is key!! It will also bring you happiness and reduce your level of stress and worries. So guys don’t wait, start today and thank me later😉.

That’s it for today loves. It’s always a pleasure to share my thoughts with you. I hope you enjoyed it and I’ll see you next time! Until then, stay safe and be blessed. Always!!! Xoxo
