Hey guys. I apologize for taking so long to write yet another article. I really couldn’t find an interesting topic and I was so caught up with school that I had to take a little break. Soooo I finally found a topic and I hope you guys will love it. As usual “STORY TIME\ud83c\udf87\ud83c\udfac”<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

So last week, I was invited to sell cupcakes at school in this activity to celebrate women. At first I didn’t want to do it. But my brother and another friend of mine urged me to do so. My brother told me that he will help me buy the ingredients I needed, I thought about it and realized that it would be a great chance to launch my business.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

How my love for baking started….<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ever since I was in high school I had a passion for baking. Growing up, I would watch my mom bake cakes almost every Sunday and I would always be by her side, not because I loved watching her do it but only because after putting the cake in the oven she would give me the mixing bowl and I would lick it like there’s no tomorrow \ud83d\ude02\ud83e\udd23\ud83d\ude2d. Years later, I started baking cakes and I fell in love with it. But I prefer making cupcakes. I started little by little. I would make them and bring them to school so that my friends could taste them and rate me. The feedbacks were ALWAYS and I’m not bragging but they were always positive.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

There were struggles along the way<\/strong><\/em>….<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Fear\ud83d\ude2d.<\/strong> I’ve always wanted to have my little business “Karo’s Cupcakes<\/em>“. It has been a dream of mine for a few years now. But I was always scared. Like I said in my last articles, I didn’t believe in myself. I knew my cupcakes were good and that my friends love them but I was scared of the public’s reaction. Also the first time I did sell them at school, instead of making profits I made a loss. At the time I thought it was a good reason to give up but looking back now it was just a lesson on how to improve so that I could be better next time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

There was another factor in my way : Inflation. <\/strong>To those of you who don’t really know what inflation is. It’s when the prices on the market increase considerably. So due to our money being devalued, the prices really changed. Everything became so expensive and I didn’t want to buy the ingredients and then make another loss. I had gone a whole year or two without baking….at all.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Time. <\/strong>Well this is me lying to myself when I said that I didn’t have “time” to bake. When you’re doing something you love, you don’t see time. I would wake up in the middle of the night and bake if I have to. But at the same time, I would always say that school has all my attention and I couldn’t do anything else.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

So the activity was taking place on Friday. I bought all the ingredients on Wednesday and on Thursday night, I spent 4 hours baking. Guys I’ve never felt this feeling before. I was so happy. The entire process, although tiring, brought me so much joy. My mom helped me mix everything while I put them in the oven and prepared the buttercream. Even after not baking for a while my cupcakes came out beautifully \ud83d\ude0d. See for yourself\ud83d\udc47\ud83c\udffe<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

When I got to school the next day, within an hour, I sold all my cupcakes. I really couldn’t believe it. Not only had I sold them, but the feedbacks were also amazing. People who don’t even know me or talk to came to me to tell me how tasty they were and that I should really consider doing this. I remember I went to Dean’s office and the secretary asked me if it’s something I really want to do in the future, I said yes. She then proceeded to tell me about her experience in this particular field and told me to go for it and not lose hope. This week, I decided to bring cupcakes again to school just to make sure that I wasn’t dreaming . It was yet another success. I had sold everything.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

So, based on this little experience I had, let me give you guys a few advices on finding your passion and pursuing it. I’m not saying I’m an expert but my experience can inspir<\/em>e you.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

So first thing first, you need to find your passion. Something you truly love and that brings you happiness. Some people say that they don’t have one and they don’t know how to find one. From my experience, it was quite easy. I had found my love for music and baking at quite a young age. I can say that the best way to find your passion is to try new things until you find the one that you’re passionate about. I always loved cooking because well being the only girl growing up in a Haitian household you have no choice but to learn how to cook. I knew I loved cooking but I would’ve never guessed that baking would be my #1 passion. All I did was try a new dish each time I’m in the kitchen until I found my love.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Once you find that passion, master it. Like Nicolas Boileau once said “ 20 fois sur le m\u00e9tier, remettez votre ouvrage. Polissez-le sans cesse et le repolissez; Ajoutez quelques fois et souvent effacez<\/em>“. Always work. Try to find your weaknesses and work to turn them into strenght. I knew that making the buttercream was always my weak spot when it comes to baking. I would literally cry every time my cream wouldn’t come out as smooth as it’s supposed to and I had given up. Big mistake. NEVER GIVE UP guys. Each failure is a step further in the right direction. Make it a challenge for you. Trust me it’s not as easy as I’m making it sound like but it’s worth it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Once you have mastered your work, it’s time to show yourself to the world \ud83d\ude1c\ud83d\ude1b(jk). It’s time to take the leap of faith<\/strong>. Trust your instinct, believe in yourself and remember the critics don’t define your strength or who you are. People will talk. That’s how we are as humans. We always have opinions. The only opinion that matters is yours and yours only so JUST DO IT.<\/strong> With the technology now it’s easier to showcase what you can do. With a little help from Instagram you’re good to go.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

If the outcomes and feedbacks are amazing keep on going. If they are negative, keep on going. You’re the only one who knows how far you wanna go. Take every negative comment as a reminder, as an opportunity to be better. Nothing is ever too perfect. It takes practice, time and dedication. Stay focus, even when things get rough. Personally I think it’s better to try and fail instead of not doing anything and spending your whole life wondering “What if”<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
