Hello guys and welcome back to my blog. How\u2019s everyone feeling today? It\u2019s been a while but I hope you\u2019re as excited as me for this new article. Today we\u2019re going to talk about patience and why it\u2019s important to be patient. Don\u2019t forget to like the article, follow my blog and share it with someone else. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

So I\u2019ve been thinking about writing a new article but the ideas wouldn\u2019t come up. I was getting worried about losing my loyal readers (lol). Two weeks ago, I read something in the Bible who spoke about patience and just like that, I found my topic for this article.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

In the Bible reading, they were talking about God\u2019s patience with us. Humans aren\u2019t patient and are always quick to judge and condemn others but God is patient with us and when we make mistakes, he forgives us.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Personally I feel like us Haitians, are the least patient people on earth. The most accurate example to illustrate this is our customer services. Usually the provider or the person behind the counter\/phone is always rushing to be done with the client or the customer and most of the times, they\u2019re super rude. It\u2019s only because they\u2019re not patient and when you\u2019re not patient, you get easily irritated, annoyed, frustrated\u2026. There was a time where I wasn\u2019t patient at all but a few years ago I started working with children and one of the quality traits required in that field is patience. Working with kids has changed me and I\u2019m working day by day to become a more patient person.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Working on being a patient person is hard we all know that. It\u2019s a daily struggle. There\u2019s always a situation that tries our patience. This simple word is so hard to practice because things don\u2019t always go our way or because we\u2019re so different from one another.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What is patience?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Based on a popular definition I found, \u201cpatience is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.\u201d From this definition we can say that patience equals tolerance and I\u2019m going to list a few reasons why sometimes it\u2019s good to be patient.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

1. Patience fights negativity<\/strong>. Someone who\u2019s patient sees the good side of things most of the times. When you\u2019re not patient, you\u2019re always pessimistic, always in a rush because probably you\u2019re afraid that something might happen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

2. Good things take time. <\/strong>It\u2019s always important for an artist to better it\u2019s craft. You guys like wine right? As people always say, the best wines are the ones who\u2019ve been in the tank for the longest. Imagine if the first person who made wine wasn\u2019t patient? He or she would\u2019ve just throw away the beverage every time because it wasn\u2019t good enough\u2026just yet.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

3. Patience helps make rational decisions. <\/strong>Y\u2019all ever heard people say don\u2019t make decisions when you\u2019re too happy or angry? That\u2019s because in those moments we\u2019re fueled with emotions and we make decisions in a rush. When you\u2019re calm and patient, your brain can process the situation without being influenced by your emotions and irrational thinking. Patience gives us time to think.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\n

\u201cPatience is a form of wisdom.\u00a0 It shows that we understand and accept the fact that sometimes things must unfold in their own time<\/em>.\u201d \u2013 Jon Kabat-Zinn\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

4. Patience helps with mental health<\/strong>. Usually someone who isn\u2019t patient is always worrying about things. We all know that worries bring stress and these two things are our mental\u2019s health enemies.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

5. Patience brings peace. <\/strong>Like I just said, when you\u2019re being patient you have time to think. Patience helps you relax and be rational and the outcome in this case is peace. Your mind is at rest and that\u2019s good for the body and soul.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

6. Patience helps strengthen our faith. <\/strong>\u201cI waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.\u201d <\/em>Ps 40,1. \u201cBut if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience<\/em>.\u201d Rm 8,25. \u201cThe Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still<\/em>.\u201d Ex 14,14. These are a few examples of how patience is key when it comes to our faith. Most of the times when we ask God for some things, we have to be patient and strengthen our faith. God hears us but sometimes we aren\u2019t ready for what we ask for. My parents wanted a girl. They\u2019ve had three boys and had to wait 14 years of marriage to have me. It wasn\u2019t God\u2019s plan yet but did they stop having faith in him? No.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

7. Patient people are better friends<\/strong>. Believe it or not, it is known that patient people are more cooperative, empathetic and forgiving. What\u2019s better than a friend that actually listens, gets you, helps you and forgive?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cPatience with others is Love. Patience with self is Hope. Patience with God is Faith<\/em>.\u201d \u2013 Adel Bestavros\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

8. Achieve goal. <\/strong>There\u2019s a creole quote that says \u201cav\u00e8k pasyans wa jwenn trip foumi.<\/em>\u201d which means with a little patience you\u2019ll be able to find ants\u2019s gut. When you want to achieve something you should not rush; be patient and go with the flow. I remember when I started college, an old friend told me she\u2019d get as many classes as possible per semester so she could finish early. I told her to be patient and let\u2019s just go at our own pace. What happens is that when you have too many classes you will eventually fail some and therefore not able to finish when you wanted to. So goal not achieved.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cPatience is not simply the ability to wait \u2013 it\u2019s how we behave while we\u2019re waiting<\/em>.\u201d \u2013Joyce Meyer\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

At the end of the day, although it\u2019s hard to be patient it\u2019s not impossible. There are situations that require a little bit of patience. The road is long and full of traps but we can do it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

PS : being patient is different from being passive. When you\u2019re patient, you wait calmly while being productive whereas a passive person just wait while being inactive. You can be both depends on the situation you\u2019re facing as long as it gets you to achieve anything you want. Maybe one day I\u2019ll talk about it if you guys are interested.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
