Yes I\u2019m super excited !!! Today\u2019s my birthday and I just turned 23. I wanted to publish an article on my birthday as a gift to thank every single one of you that has been with me since I launched this blog. Thank you guys, I really appreciate the support. Today we have a little story time and I hope that my experience will somehow motivate you.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A few months ago, I got a call from a friend and she told me she might have a job for me. I have been thinking about getting a job for a while but I was going to wait a few months because I didn\u2019t want to work and go to school at the same time. I asked her what the job was about and she told me that I\u2019d work as a prefect of discipline in one of the best schools in the country. The minute she told me what the job was about, I freaked out\u2026..<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Why was I scared?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">I\u2019ve always been a shy girl. All my life people have always known me as the little shy girl, always ready to cry. My first thought was : \u201d Me? Prefect of discipline? No way\u201d. Those high school kids are as tall as me and some are even taller. I thought that they would not respect me and I really wasn\u2019t prepared to be made fun of.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">I quickly told her I couldn\u2019t do it and that I was not the person for the job. She told me it would be an amazing opportunity and I should talk about it with my family. I agreed and hung up the phone. When I told them, they were excited but one of my brothers was against the idea at first because he said it was too much work for me and I would be too tired. I didn\u2019t know what would happen and I was still unsure whether I was fit for the job or not. I decided to take a leap of faith and accept the job. When the principal saw me walk in the room she was shocked. I knew what she was thinking about : \u201cShe\u2019s too young for this\u201d. In that moment my stress level reached the highest point. The first question she asked was : \u201d Do you think that you can do it? \u201d without hesitation I said yes. Here I am, the shy little girl now meeting parents and handling everything with professionalism. I finally got out of my comfort zone and I feel different. I work and go to school and I balance both pretty well. Yes it\u2019s tiring but working with kids is fun too. I have been working with toddlers since 2015 but it\u2019s my first time working with teenagers. They\u2019re a handful for sure but as long as the respect is mutual I\u2019m up for the ride.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-medium\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-795 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/karoslittlecorner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/cee750dbe0ae09fc91c4ac038ab7093a.jpg?resize=560%2C660&ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"660\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/karoslittlecorner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/cee750dbe0ae09fc91c4ac038ab7093a.jpg?w=560&ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/karoslittlecorner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/cee750dbe0ae09fc91c4ac038ab7093a.jpg?resize=255%2C300&ssl=1 255w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">I wanted to talk about this experience to tell you guys that opportunities don\u2019t come often. In a country like Haiti jobs are hard to find. As long as you\u2019re doing something legal, go for it. If you\u2019re not happy or you feel uncomfortable, look for something better and leave. But don\u2019t doubt yourself and say that you are not fit for the job like I did. If you get chosen it simply means that you have potential. Look at me at 22 years old I started working as a prefect of discipline. I\u2019m the youngest employee at work but regardless, I\u2019m doing my job correctly. There will always be pros and cons when it\u2019s time to decide whether or not you should take a job. The salary might not be what you would expect but at least you have a source of income. It\u2019s better than nothing. Don\u2019t miss on opportunities by overthinking. Opportunities don\u2019t last and once you miss them, they don\u2019t come back. I remember my sister in law once said that you should never say no when an opportunity knocks on your door even if you\u2019re unsure ; if they ask if you can do it, say yes regardless, you can learn how to do it after. We have YouTube for that\ud83d\ude1c. I\u2019m a senior in Business Administration and you would think that my first job would be at a bank or a corporate office but I work at an high school. It doesn\u2019t matter. It\u2019s something to add on my resume. You always have to start somewhere.
